Fulminant opening for the boardsport summit of boot 2023
Düsseldorf, January 21, 2023, after the two-year pandemic break, boot 2023 got off to a brilliant start to the nine-day trade show on the Rhine with a full house, XXL pool, the latest product presentations, lots of stars and exciting international competitions.
boot 2023 sets the stage for the trend topic wingfoiling
This year, the focus of boot is on wingsurfing and wingsailing. The stage was therefore set for wingfoiling on the first day of the trade fair in Düsseldorf.
The XXL pool in Hall 17 is the new, booming action center for this surf sport, which has once again increased in depth. Almost silently, 34 wind machines will ensure that the best wingfoilers in the world demonstrate their spectacular skills in Düsseldorf and bring the pool to the boil.
The Swiss wingfoil star Balz Müller, wingfoil pro Michael Näf, youth kite world champion Finn Flügel, the legend Bjørn Dunkerbeck with his son Liam, the successful wave windsurfer Flo Jung and also junior windsurf freestyle world champion Lennart Neubauer, as well as many other well-known players have come to Düsseldorf to kick off the season.

Internationally known professional surfers feel completely in their element at the fair and meet each other on the stage at the big water pool. There, they reveal, for example, where they spend their winter training and what challenges the year 2023 has to offer.
Show performances, award ceremonies and interviews with the stars of the scene will once again ensure a dynamic stage program at boot 2023. Autograph requests and individual inquiries will of course also always be fulfilled by the professionals in the best of moods at the stands of their sponsors.
Wingfoil pioneer Balz Müller explains in a euphoric voice about the boot 2023: “For me, boot is like a big children’s playground on the water. So I’m looking forward to seeing lots of water sports enthusiasts and having a lot of fun in the coming days here in Düsseldorf!”
Foiling fun for all: boot invites to live entry
For all those who want to take the jump on the foil, boot offers a special treat: The Association of German Water Sports Schools (VDWS) awaits newcomers to its popular Surf Academy on the wingsurf simulator. Here, the curious can take the wing in their own hands and learn to handle it for the first time on a moving plate.
The popular beginner seminars for kitesurfers and windsurfers are also among the top offers of the world’s largest water sports school association.
These include training sessions on the windsurfing simulator on the subject of loop and harness riding and units on the kite simulator, which allows young and old players to overcome gravity for a brief moment and be pulled up into the air together with the board on their feet.

Shopping, chilling & surfing in all its facets in hall 17
Not to be forgotten at boot 2023 are, of course, windsurfing, SUP, kitesurfing, skimboarding and wakeboarding, in addition to wingsurfing and foiling. This year, the Düsseldorf show program will again offer surfing in all its facets.
A tow-in windsurfing show will excite the audience every day. This involves demonstrating which spectacular and daring jumps are possible with the latest windsurfing equipment.
In addition, the popular wakeboard show attracted thousands of spectators to the hall directly on the first day. Parallel to this, the manufacturers and exhibiting companies showed the latest product developments at their booths, which were staged and explained by the experts.
Here you will find a unique market overview, in-depth discussions with experts on all current surfing topics, as well as the trends of tomorrow.
Hall 17 is located in the heart of the fair and offers plenty of action, show and novelties for visitors- chill, exotic South Sea atmosphere included.
