The Defi Wing 2023 – the biggest wing foil race in the world taking place in the south of France at the windy beach of Gruissan. Finally 277 men and women wing foiling in the same race! Wing foiling has never seen that before.
Highlights Day 1 Defi Wing 2023
The event takes place from May 15th to 17th 2023 and with 277 registered men and women – it is the biggest wing foil race ever seen. Defi Wing 2023 was lucky with the wind forecast. Strong tramontana wind between 30 and 50 knots was blowing throughout the competition days.
Day one at Defi Wing 2023 saw the first two long distance races going down. It was the biggest wing foil race ever seen wing foiling.
Some of the world top riders took part! Some of them are Mathis Giho, Balz Müller, Titouan Galea, Wesley Britto, Francesco Cappuzzo and many more.

Day 2: Too windy to compete
Wind gusts up to 60 knots – that is too much to start a race with almost 300 wings. The event organisers from Defi Wing 2023 decided to cancel the races and hope for less wind on day 3 – the last day of competition.
As there was no racing, the visitors on the event site still got lots of entertainment. The worlds best freestyle wing foilers showed their skills in a freestyle super session.
Further more most of the leading brands, presented their latest gear trends on stage and in their event tents.
Highlights Day 2 and 4 Defi Wing 2023
After one day with no races, the last day of competition, day 4, it was time for some race action again. The plan was to run 3 long distance races at the final day of competition.
The wind was still strong, but not as strong as the days before. Wind conditions of about 30 – 35 knots were perfect for another day of racing.
Mazella Axel took home the first place at Defi Wing 2023. After winning Defi Kite just before the wing competition. Axel Mazella won all races at Defi Wing! What a performance!
Finished 2nd we have Mathis Ghio and in 3rd position Arthur Mathieu.
Last years women winner Flora Artzner took the crown of Defi Wing home once again.
