In the southern French town of Gruissan, the Defi Wing was taking place, a long-distance race with 400 participants. This event shows the growth and potential of wing foiling!

DEFI Wing: Biggest Wing Foil Race
The Defi is nothing short of the world's most famous long-distance race for any type of water sport. After the kite community first took to the Defi Kite, nearly 400 Wingfoil fans are now competing for the top spots - or simply aiming to finish, because the Defi is tough!

After the flying start off Gruissan Plage, it's several kilometers along the coast at full speed towards Port-La-Nouvelle, which really tests the arms and legs.

After a tack, it's a slight upwind return back to Gruissan and then onto a second lap. Overall, the runs in the Defi Wing are slightly shorter than, for example, in its windsurfing counterpart, Defi Wind, where a race is nearly 40 kilometers long and from May 9th onwards, 1500 (!) windsurfers simultaneously hit the course.
