Moses W1100 and Stabilizers
Has anyone used the W1100 with an S425 stabilizer and, if so, what do you gain/give-up in switching to the S425 from either an S450 or and S483?
Just got an answer to my question from Tucker Vanol with MACkiteboarding and thought I would pass it along in this forum. The S425 provides a higher top end with the W1100 and is actually preferred by some over the other two stabilizers, the S483 or S450. The appeal is greater speed which provides more apparent wind and improves the already exceptional glide of the W1100. However, the trade off is less lift when trying to get up on foil. Therefore, have to sweat a bit on the frontend to enjoy the benefits on the backend.
I Actually use the 1100 and the 790 with the 450 stabilizer. So far i only had 2 sessions with the 790 and a lot more with the 1100 as i usually go in light winds.
I´m in Cape Town now and made a little test: in 20 knots and a 5 m wing i used the 1100 and the 790 and tried to go fast. Both with the 450 stabilizer.
I found it interesting that i got faster with the big front wing. Speed with the 1100 was 35,60 km/h and with the 790 it was 32,40 km/h.
Maybe it is because i am more used to the bigger front wing? However i just thought that might be something interesting for you.
